The favourites to win The Hundred

As the fourth renewal of The Hundred looms on the horizon, excitement and anticipation are at fever pitch among cricket enthusiasts across the UK.

This unique 100-ball cricket competition, known for its dynamic and fast-paced format, has captured the imagination of fans and players alike since its inception in 2021.

With the eight teams meticulously fine-tuning their strategies and finalising their squads, the battle lines are drawn for another riveting season.

In this article, we delve into the favourites in The Hundred odds  and examine their chances of glory in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Oval Invincibles – 4/1

The success of the Oval Invincibles had been resigned to the women’s team until last season when the London side finally won the men’s trophy.

The Invincibles were a mid-table side at best in the first two editions of The Hundred but were a force to be reckoned with last year, with just one defeat in the entire tournament.

They needed a record-breaking turnaround to beat the Manchester Originals in the final at Lords, and they are the 4/1 favourites to retain their title.

The Invincibles also strengthened their batting order by drafting Dawid Malan, who has represented England in all formats.

Birmingham Phoenix – 5/1

Despite finishing sixth in last year’s tournament with just two wins in eight games, the Birmingham Phoenix are the joint-second favourites to win their first The Hundred title.

The Midlands side’s roster is fantastic, including England internationals Moeen Ali, Ben Duckett, Liam Livingstone, and Chris Woakes.

The Phoenix have also strengthened their ranks with the addition of Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah and Australian all-rounder Sean Abbott.

Manchester Originals – 5/1

After being denied their maiden The Hundred success last year and losing the final for the second year in a row, the Manchester Originals will be out to put the record straight this season.

Led by captain and England wicketkeeper Jos Butler, the Originals are 5/1 in the cricket odds to bring the title back to the Old Trafford Cricket Ground for the first time this year.

The Manchester Originals picked Afghanistan international Fazalhaq Farooqi, who took the joint-most wickets (17) at the T20 World Cup, in the draft to bolster their bowling ranks.

London Spirit – 6/1

The London Spirit would need to improve drastically on last year’s performance if they have any hope of stealing the men’s title away from their city rivals.

The Spirit finished third in 2022 but slipped to seventh last year after winning just two of their eight games.

In a bid to climb back up the table and potentially even compete for their first title, the Spirit have snapped up West Indie duo Andre Russell, who is a world-class all-rounder and top-order better Shimron Hetmyer.

The Trent Rockets, who won the 2022 renewal of The Hundred, are also 6/1, with the Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers both 7/1.

The Welsh Fire, who were fourth last year, are bottom of the betting at 8/1, but captain Jonny Bairstow might have other ideas.
